The Japanese Anime

Animation is one of the most popular styles of entertainment, from 8-years old to teenagers and adults. It brings to life the fantasy world, the impossible and unrealistic. This is one of the reasons the "anime" is so popular. The people who make everything come true are the creators of these animations.

In America, the live shows and movies are very popular and have generous budgets, but in Japan the live-action industry is not that good, so they created an alternative sort of entertainment - animation. In Japanese movies all the actors were native and that made them a little bit harder acceptable by other countries, but in this new format of storytelling (animation) they have the opportunity to make the characters look different. Not only the characters are various , but there are a lot of genres in the anime: action, adventure, children's stories, comedy, drama, erotica, medieval fantasy, horror, romance and science fiction. Most of the animations are a mixture between two or more genres, which makes them even more interesting. Some of them are even turned into movies e.g. Death Note.

For people from other continents anime is revealing a new world. It is also with different themes. Some of them are connected with historic events and show Japan of a particular time. Other anime shows Japanese lifestyle and is very interesting, because people from all over the world can see a different culture. They also have a chance to learn more about it and have fun at the same time. For those, who like watching programmes with fantastic nature there are anime, which are entirely made up. If you start watching anime you simply won't be able to stop. It will become an addiction. But don't be afraid, because this is the most wonderful addiction that you can have.

The styles in which animation is made have become very common, they are used mostly in these types of entertainment . Now whoever wants to learn the style of anime can buy a book like "How to draw Manga". These book can give you all the information you need to make your own character. Osamu Tezuka is the creator of the big eyes style of drawing. He was influenced by the American cartoon characters e.g. Betty Boop, Mickey Mouse and Bambi. He discovered that the large eyes make the heroes look more emotional. Another typical anime style is the "face fault", in which they display an extremely exaggerated expression. It sometimes looks funny, sometimes scary, but is one of the innumerable reasons why we watch anime.

Originating form Japan animation has grown and now it is one of the most preferred sorts of entertainment in the world. Even in America, the centre of the movies and TV shows, anime has captured the love not only of the kids, but of adults too.

Here are some of the most watches anime: Death Note, Elfenlied, Fullmetal Alchemist, Neon Genesis Evangelion,Onegai Twins, Great teacher Onizuka, etc.

Pop-folk Music in Bulgaria

/part 4/

In the last decade, the style and topics of chalga songs and videos have changed a lot. Today, chalga is a huge industry with talented Bulgarian singers and musicians. It has come to be a growing business with high production values and interesting videos. Record companies work with partners from other European countries, making Bulgarian music popular both at home and abroad.
Many of the Bulgarian pop-folk singers and musicians have gone to England, Spain, Italy, Australia, USA, Canada, etc. They enjoy other Bulgarians, who had decided to move there to live with their families or alone, with their songs and music. Pop-folk singers sing there in different discos and pubs. Bulgarian people are very happy, because they know that they are not forgotten.
One of the most famous pop-folk events were "Planeta Prima"/2004, 2005, 2006/. During these three years eight singers from "Payner" enjoyed the population of Bulgaria in fifteen towns in their stadiums. During first year the singers were: Gloria, Maria, Emilia, Anelia, Malina, Kamelia, Gergana and Raina. During the second year these were again: Maria, Kamelia, Malina, Gergana, Emilia and three new singers: Ivana, Veronika and Preslava. And during the third year the talents were: Gergana, Emilia, Ivana, Preslava, Raina, Malina, Kamelia and Anelia.During the second pop-folk event there were other singers, who were guests in the different towns of Bulgaria, like Boris Dali, Nelina & Bliznacite, Maria, Anelia, etc. Everyone of the singers had a mix of songs, which she or he had to sing for twenty minutes. These three pop-folk events were the most perfect and firmly things that have ever happened.
This was our last article about pop-folk music in Bulgaria. We will bring you more information about other things, but you have to stay tuned for our next week article.

Pop-folk Music in Bulgaria

/part 3/

In 1989, when the Bulgarian Communist regime fell, restrictions were lifted and a new culture emerged. The "new" and "forbidden" were released from the underground in Bulgaria. Chalga tune swept the nation. And now it is played openly and available on cheap pirated tapes and CDs. A new generation of scantily-clad and cheap, huge-breasted Bulgarian "superstars" grabbed the public spotlight, performing songs that might have led to official sanctions only a year before.Lyrics about sex, gun-running and gangsterism, were the order of the day, danced to across the Bulgarian nation in new "folkteki" or folk discos(pubs).
Now some of the most famous hits of the Bulgarian female and male singers are: "Lazha e" (Preslava); "Moi si diavole" (Sofi Marinova & Ustata); "Nai-dobrata" (Ivana); "Nai-dobriat" (Pepa & Kosti); "Koi zhivee v garazha?" (Konstantin); "Vsichko" (Bony); "Praznuvash li sega?" (Azis); "Telefoni-remix" (Maria & ork.Kristali); "Baby" (ork.Kristali); "Karma" (Gergana); "Tzip na ustata" (Raina); "Viatar v kosite ti" (Anelia); "V tishinata" (Malina); etc.
By the 2000s, the popularity of chalga somewhat waned, but it remains a vibrant genre. It was partly replaced by Western pop music, more traditional Bulgarian music, and that of Bulgarian musicians exploring new avenues (most notably hip-hop like Dope Reach Squad, Upsurt, MishoShamara, Spens-all Bulgarian hip-hop singers) and musicians like Slavi Trifonov. We will bring you more information about today's chalga. Stay tuned for the next week article (the last one).

Pop-folk Music in Bulgaria
/part 2/

The word chalga comes from Turkish word çalga, which is pronounced "chal-guh". It means "playing" or "music and itself pass from Arabic. As the word suggests the tradition came from the East and is not of Slavic origin. Indeed, the movement is derived from the art of chalgazhia, a kind of musician, normally a Rom, who could play virtually any type of music, but added his own distinctive beat or rhythm to the song. Often a chalgazhia would not be able to read music, but instead played from memory on his kaval (another example: an end-blown flute). Very often some musician in groups and not only are playing at different festivals, concerts or weddings. These performers initiated the popularization of chalga.
There are several pop-folk music companies, for example: the biggest one Payner; Ara-Audio-Video (or Ara Music); Sunny Music; Dream House; Diapason Records; New Music; etc. Some famous singers are Gloria (the Queen of pop-folk music), Anelia, Preslava, Gergana, Ivana, Kamelia, Maria, Raina & Konstantin (from Payner); Alisia, Tony Storaro, Pepa & Kosti, Teodora, Anna (from Ara Music);Lia & Kondio, Panko (from Dream House); Azis (the most famous singer from Sunny Music); Kali (from Diapason Records) and Desislava (from her own company - New Music). They are liked a lot by the people of Bulgaria, espacially by the teenagers and some of the elder poeple. We will bring you more information about chalga's popularity. Stay tuned for the next week article.

Pirates of the Caribbean III
Ready for Take off

Less than a year after the release of the record-breaking hit "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", Walt Disney Pictures announced the date of the third movie's grand premiere. The sequel of the smash series arrives in theatres on 25 May this year. Its official title was confirmed to be "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" by producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
After Davy Jones' heart ended up in the hands of the East India Trading Company and Captain Barbossa's (Geoffrey Rush) surprising return from the dead, our favourite characters Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightley) are going on a quest to save the cunning but smart and oh-so-charming Captain Jack Sparrow and his precious Pearl. On their way, they must surmount the enmity and find resemblance in order to survive. "Piracy itself is at stake," says director Gore Verbinski.
The new movie introduces us to some new faces as well. Chow Yun-Fat appears as Sao Feng, Captain of the Chinese ship "The Empress" and the legendary Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones will definitely play the part of Jack's father, Captain Grant Sparrow. It is not announced when a trailer will be released but promotional posters are already on the net.
Fans believe "PotC: AWE" will be this year's record-smashing hit and are already eager to see more romance, more adventure and, of course, more Jack Sparrow.

Pop-folk Music in Bulgaria

/part 1/

Bulgarian popular music comes from Balkan folk traditions and incorporating Arabic, Turkish, Serbian, Macedonian, Greek and Romanian influences, as well as motifs from Balkan traditional music. Often overshadowed by the Bulgarian club and dance music, pop-folk remains popular among teenagers in Bulgaria.

There are several pop-folk music companies in Bulgaria, however, the biggest is Payner. Its chairman is Mitko Dimitrov, a.k.a. "Paynera". He is the boss of the company and he is not very young but he can still take care of everyone - the singers, the team and the progress of the company.

The Bulgarian Pop-Folk Music genre is seen as a second-rate musical genre, originating from foreign sources and known for repetition themes and hook-laden dance rhythms. Its commercial exploitations result in a vibrant night scene, especially in Sofia, as well as many televised videos featuring extravagantly glamorised singers. Pop-folk music comes from a variety of musical styles; for example: rock'n'roll, jazz, folk music, dance, hip-hop and metal. Many pop-folk hits were Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Romanian, Serbian or Macedonian hits, covered by Bulgarian singers often in more complex musical arrangements. In fact, this has led to several cases of copyright infringement. This has sparked an ongoing controversy of music rights in Europe. We will bring you more about this as it develops. Stay tuned for next weeks article.
